Premiering in February 2015, Canadian/Hungarian series X Company is a CBC drama thriller set during World War II. Five recruits, selected for their high skills are taken from their normal lives and trained to be Canadian secret agents. As they covertly infiltrate behind enemy lines, there is no telling what horrors they may experience in the line of duty. It was approved for a second season shortly before the first season ended, and in its brief tenure on television has already received five award nominations. It has remained steadily popular from the first season to the current, and the team has garnered quite a fan base.
Who created the show?
Creators of the hit Canadian police drama, Flashpoint, Mark Ellis and his wife, Stephanie Morgenstern are responsible for the idea of #XC. It started as a short film called Remembrance that the duo created for a festival, and they were then encouraged to write the script that ultimately became #XCompany. Ellis got his start in the film industry as an actor, and it wasn’t until he co-created the short film that his skills transitioned into writing and creating. Morgenstern also got her start as an actress, which she has been doing since she was a child. The couple have been nominated for and won several awards as a result of their work on Flashpoint.
Who are some of the main cast members?
The five main cast members consist of Evelyne Brochu, playing Aurora Luft, Jack Laskey as Alfred Graces, Warren Brown as Neil Mackay, Connor Price as Harry James and Dustin Milligan as Tom Cummings. Brochu has been in film since her early twenties, in television series and shorts. Laskey has been featured in a handful of series and even a role in Star Wars Episode VII before he landed his role in XC. Brown has been in many series since 1995 and played a small role in The Dark Knight Rises. His work has been nominated for five awards so far. Price began acting at the young age of six in 2000, and has been at it ever since. He won an award in 2008 for his work on the Dead Zone. Milligan has a rich tapestry of experience in the film field and has even dabbled in writing and producing.

Already in 2016, the show has received three nominations from the Canadian Screen Awards including Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Program or Series for cast member Torben Librecht in two episodes. It also was nominated for Best Photography and Best Sound in a Comedy or Dramatic Program or Series. In 2015, the Directors Guild of Canada nominated #XC for two Craft Awards for Television Series Picture Editing and Sound Editing.
