Continuum

Continuum is a science fiction series created by Simon Barry (Art of War).

In the oligarchic dystopian future of 2077, the North American Union is ruled by a Congress of Corporations in seeming peace and freedom. Their power is maintained by a high tech surveillance state that terrorist group, Liber8, hopes to take down. When they fail, they go back in time to 2012 to try and stop the Union from happening before it starts.

Kiera Cameron is a member of the City Protective Services, the police force of the future. She has a great life with her husband and son in 2077 Vancouver. Unfortunately, she is accidentally taken back in time with Liber8 and now must work against them in the past of 2016. Her only allies are a police detective and a teenage computer genius who she knows will be the future leader of her future’s corporate government.

Slowly, as Cameron and Liber8 play cat and mouse through their past, it becomes clear that their accidental time travel may be no mistake at all. Instead, it may be a carefully constructed plan spanning both eras. But a plan hatched and enacted by whom?

Critics are generally favorable on Continuum. It’s been described as “slick” and with a great attention to detail, which is a bonus in a time travel series. The performances are smart and interesting with a web of relationships and a mystery that connectes 2012 to 2077.

If you enjoy police procedurals with a science fiction twist or vice versa, or you like unraveling the mysteries of time travel and causality, then Continuum will be a great addition to your personal lineup.
