It’s going to be a really sweet Christmas for Luke Cage now that Netflix has renewed it for a second season. The latest Marvel show to go on to critical acclaim got a boost from their Facebook and Twitter pages by posting a short video promoting the second season.
Marvel seems to be king on both the small screen and the big screen. This will be the third show from their studios to get a second season on Netflix. The others were Daredevil and Jessica Jones, which all make up a bulk of The Defenders. Iron Fist will be coming out in 2017 and be the final member of that group, making for a really fun crossover show. The Punisher may be added as another member, which makes sense considering he started on Daredevil and Luke Cage started on Jessica Jones.
The freshman season of Luke Cage was two parts, with the first one concentrating on the incredible drug kingpin Cottonmouth while the latter half focused on Stryker. Stryker was beat up pretty bad in the finale, but was shown being put in the same program that made Luke Cage into a superhero. Unfortunately Cottonmouth won’t get the same treatment, which is a shame since he was the best villain on the show.
A new season also means brand new music for the show, which will have to change things up a bit since Harlem’s Paradise got shot up pretty bad. In fact, who owns Harlem’s Paradise now? It started out as Cottonmouth’s before Stryker took over, and since he is gone, who does it default to? One of the biggest attractions to the show is its musical performances, so it’ll be interesting to see how the new season keeps the fans happy.
Will season 2 be a good watch or a dud? Who was your favorite villain in the series?
